Who We Are

The Michigan School Board Leaders Forum, Inc. is comprised primarily of reform-minded board members from across Michigan.  It is people who believe dollars are best spent educating kids, and they seek to find savings by harnessing competition to drive down costs and save schools money.

Like our partner organization, Education Action Group, Inc., we also have members that are taxpayers and public school advocates and want to support school boards to make the difficult decisions to ensure as many resources are allotted to directly educating kids as possible.

To join MSBLF, a minimum contribution of $10 is required.  Elected school board members who join are given the opportunity to accept an invitation to join a state-wide on-line members only forum to discuss policies, issues their districts are facing, and ways to work together to improve our public schools.

Frequently Asked Questions

"Is MSBLF a partisan group?"

No.  We’re focused on assisting school board members to reform education in Michigan, regardless of political persuasion.  We welcome—and count as members—liberals and conservatives.  These issues seem apolitical that way.  After all, spending tax dollars efficiently is not a partisan issue.

"Are you in competition with the Michigan Association of School Boards?"

No.  MASB is a full-service association for school boards as a whole, regardless of the beliefs and priorities of individual members. We are not.  We cater to reform-minded individual board members.  Our issues are very specific: assisting and equipping those board members that want to scrutinize spending to ensure as many dollars are going to directly educating kids as possible.  We’re simply different.
